Detail Cosmetics has been releasing so many good eyeshadow palettes for the past 2 years and one of my favorites is the Sunset Dream Palette. My readers and subscribers have been asking me to compare this with the Careline Play To Slay Palette and I will do that later in this blog post. But yes, if you're looking for a versatile bright eyeshadow palette that happens to be from a Cruelty-Free makeup brand in the Philippines, then keep on reading!
Detail Cosmetics Sunset Dream Palette Review - Bright Eyeshadow by Detail Makeover
What is the Sunset Dream Eyeshadow Palette by Detail Cosmetics?
The Sunset Dream palette is a 15-color versatile eyeshadow palette released by Detail Cosmetics, a Filipino makeup brand formerly known as Detail Makeover. The palette has a mix of warm and cool tones as well as nighttime and daytime colors for the eyes.
I personally think that the name SUNSET Dream suits it well because the colors are inspired by the sunset and can work well into the night. If you take a look at the colors, it has about 10 semi natural and neutral tones that can be used every day and 5 vavavoom shades to create pangmalakasan eye looks.
The colors can be applied wet or dry and via brush or fingers. The bright shades can stain so beware!
Price and Where to Buy
Price is around 600 pesos or $12 but you can get the palette for cheaper when they go on sale. Detail Cosmetics has official stores in Shopee, BeautyMNL, and Lazada plus you can buy direct from their website.
I personally buy from the Detail Cosmetics Shopee storebecause they usually have sales and discounts.

Comparison Careline Play to Slay Palette and Detail Cosmetics Sunset Dream Palette
This part was just requested by some readers and subscribers so feel free to zoom on the photos for a side-by-side comparison. The main review continues further below.
Both brands are good to use for about 3 years after the manufacturing date and both are paraben-free and cruelty-free. I really cannot pick just one because they are different palettes although both have warm shades. I guess that if you have fair skin, you might enjoy Careline more and Detail if you have a Filipina skintone to deep skin tone.
I honestly think that there are no duplicates for the shades and function so feel free to buy both palettes.

Detail Cosmetics Sunset Dream Swatches on bare skin so you can see what the shades adhere well. The shimmers and metallics can perform better than some mattes as expected but the light mattes and brights mattes are better than in other drugstore or affordable makeup brands. Some glitter chunks are quite large and best applied over a primer with a damp brush or finger to avoid fallout.
Sunset Dream Palette Review Summary
- Pigment saturation 4.0/5 because most are very pigmented but some can stain so you have to be careful unless you want to have orange eyelids for days
- Ease of use 4.5/5 beginner-friendly and works even without primer. The key is to build up color slowly
- Longevity 4.5/5 4-12 hours depending on color and the application technique used
- Value for money 5/5 performed better than more expensive palettes
- Scent 4.5/5 typical makeup scent but not too strong
- Color story 5/5 good combination of shades and very versatile
- Packaging 5/5 looks and feels like a mid-range palette or higher-end of drugstore
For the price range, this performed really well so giving this a high rating. Of course, this doesn't perform the same as Natasha Denona or but for drugstore makeup or affordable makeup, this is quite good, kinda like WetNWild ColorIcon palettes.
I personally buy from the Detail Cosmetics Shopee storebecause they usually have sales and discounts.
