Best Soothing Gel REVIEW Battle! I Compared 7 Soothing Gels to Know Which is The Best! #TheFaceShop #NatureRepublic #Esfolio #PaxMoly
Best soothing gel is a common question posed by my readers and followers because I have been featuring soothing gels in my IG stories for quite a while. I published a Battle of the Soothing Gels review video 2 years ago and since it is summer again, it is time for a write-up. To date, I have tried over 15 soothing gels but I will only be reviewing my top 7 which are readily available in top Korean Skincare websites and skincare distributors in the Philippines and the rest of the world. I did not include ones that are difficult to buy and/or did not perform well in comparison with other soothing gels.
Best Soothing Gel REVIEW Battle! I Compared 7 Soothing Gels to Know Which is The Best!
What Is A Soothing Gel? What Are The Uses for A Soothing Gel?
A soothing gel is a water-based gel skincare product with hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties based on formula plus the medium of the product. Most soothing gels have skin nourishing ingredients such as snail serum, aloe vera, bamboo extract, ginseng, honey, and water that combats skin irritation while hastening skin healing. They are often used for sunburns, as skin moisturizers for dehydrated skin, or to soothe irritated skin.

I will talk about each one below but I won't be posting the prices since this changes all the time. All products are available in Shopee, Lazada, or Watsons too.
I already have a review for the TheFaceShop Jeju Aloe Ice and this is also one of the cheapest compared to the rest. I use this for the hair, face, and body. I usually use this after stashing in the freezer for a few hours. It doesn't get completely frozen but rather transforms to a shaved ice that feels really refreshing. Could be good to keep on hand especially during summer in the Philippines. A bit sticky so 4/5 for me.
Esfolio Pure Snail Moisture Soothing Gel is the most hydrating for me especially when my skin is very dehydrated. It also got Aloe Vera but the snail ingredient is what is making it more moisturizing than a regular aloe vera gel. I suggest this for people who have oily skin and do not want a heavy moisturizer or for people who have dehydrated skin but are not a fan of oil-based products. Very light. Got an artificial but fresh scent. I don't think this can be used for the hair, unlike typical aloe vera gels. 4/5 for me.
Pax Moly Honey Soothing Gel is very light and not too sticky surprisingly! I don't recommend this for a tropical climate and I think this will work better in a colder climate. This is quite popular in Russia and I can understand why because of their weather. The scent is a bit too sweet and sour for me. Maybe that's a good sign because some honey types got the same scent. This is the cheapest and marketed for dry skin. I rate this 3.5/5.
The Face Shop Damyang Bamboo Soothing Gel Review
The Face Shop Damyang Bamboo Soothing Gel got bamboo as a feature ingredient and I never thought bamboo can have skin hydrating and skin-soothing properties. I haven't tried this for the hair but I have used this interchangeably with the aloe vera ones in this list and so far the effect is nearly the skin. Feels cooling and refreshing too but smells a bit too sweet for me so 4/5.
Esfolio Aloe Vera Moisture Soothing Gel has the highest concentration of aloe vera among all I have tried but the brand isn't paraben-free. Some feedback that I got for Nature Republic Soothing Gel and this is also easier to buy in physical stores as they have stocks in Watsons most of the time. I just can't get used to the scent. It is pleasant but just not to my liking. Can get a bit sticky too if layered on the skin so I mostly use this as a hair mask to hydrate. 4/5 for me!
The FaceShop Jeju Aloe Fresh Soothing Gel is the most affordable and also the least scented. My only issue with it is that the gel is a bit slippery and sticky for some reason. This has a cooling effect but that is because alcohol is the 4th ingredient in the list. 4/5 for me.
Nature Republic Aloe Vera Soothing Gel is a clear gel with cooling properties that gained a cult following as a moisturizer during summer in the Philippines, especially for people who happen to have oily skin. The tub has 300 ml and has a stopper. This gel can be applied at room temperature or from the refrigerator much like how you would apply a cooling mask. This gel works amazing for burns and sunburns too but does not apply hastily, wait until the healing phase. I also use this as a moisturizer after full body exfoliation and after shaving.
This has the best scent amongst everything I have tried and the one I use the most. 4.5/5!
