My BYS Matte Maven Glamourbox Unboxing and First Impressions | Subscription Saturdays

So, I've been doing haul videos and review videos on Youtube but wasn't I really into the whole blogging thing until some viewers requested that I write a blog for products that I don't take videos of.

Hey, don't you worry, I will not stop doing videos and in fact, I do have a video for the #BYSMatteMaven #GlamourboxUnboxing but it's in tagalog (as requested). I figured that writing a blog post would cover both sides of the coin for my non-filipino viewers and subscribers so here it is - MY VERY FIRST BLOG!

On to the box!

The BYS Matte Maven GlamourBox came with all these 6 gorgeous items!

Now, of course the items in the box were first kept as a surprise when #GlamourBoxPh announced that they'll be having another collaboration beauty box with #BYSPhilippines. It was a bit of a gamble for me but seeing that their previous box, the BYS Makeup Pro Glamourbox is such a big hit, I decided to take the plunge!

I joined the Glamourbox site in mid-November and was pleasantly surprised that aside from offering beauty subscription boxes, they also carry a lot of cool beauty finds. They got Pixi products, Ellana Minerals stuff, and Aloe Derma thingies! I was certain that I was merely having a hallucination so I logged off and stayed off the site for a few days....until I saw that a new Glamourbox will be available soon.

What's a girl to do? I know you get what I mean :P

Anyway, I placed an order and it was delivered in the last week of November. I was sooooo happy to receive my very first Philippine beauty subscription box that I asked my brother to unbox it for me and send a photo (coz I wasn't home when my box arrived). It was love at first sight!

Yeah I know, the photo sucks, but I wanted to share the first photo I got of it you know? #sentimentalreasons and all haha!

I opened everything because I just can't wait!

I feel that I should post decent photos...so until I get around to that, here are screenshots I got from the Glamourbox page:

BYS Contour and Highlighting Kit - I was sent Goddess (coz they know who I am y'all!). I was just a bit disturbed by how BYS named the shades but the products are good so no real complaints here :)

BYS Matte Eyeshadow 8 Palette Neutrals - Everyone got the same for this one. I haven't played with my palette yet but I do like that it's all matte and very compact.

BYS Matte Lipstick in Latte to Go - OMG! Concealer lips! Not very happy with this :( I am very fair (NC15 in Mac) and yet this color still screams dead zombie for me. I'm guessing other local gals are not happy with this either. I mean, why couldn't they have picked a better shade? Why?????

BYS Liquid Brow Pen in Natural Brown and Light Brown - I was sent the light brown one but it's actually dark! It's kinda intriguing because it has a felt tip applicator, more like an eyeliner than a brow product for me but we'll see :)

BYS Matte Nail Enamel - I was sent the blue one and I'm not digging it. I like blue polishes but it's the type of blue that only looks good on a select few. The polish is very pigmented though and dries fast. The downside is that it chips in just a few days too but I'll use it again some other time and give it a fair trial thingy.

BYS Eyeliner Gel with Brush in Black Magic - Not a fan at first try but I guess it's partly because I ~~abhor~~ dislike gel liners in the first place. I don't know, it just seems a bit runny/oily and the applicator/brush included is too thick. I'll play a bit with this one and write an updated blog.

So, the grand total for all the items is 3,044 pesos (see prices in the photos) but hey, the Glamourbox subscription for their special limited edition boxes is only 1,100 pesos + shipping fee. I think that is a definite win!

Well, I only liked one product for real. It's kinda sucky in a way but I don't really regret subscribing. Why? I love trying new products and this way, I get a cute box (I have a thing for boxes), and I get to have multiple products to try.

I do think that two or three more items in this box have a huge potential so just being able to try them out is great. The absolute duds for me are the nail polish (because of the color), and the lipstick (because of the color as well) but that's more about personal preference anyways.

Good news! The BYS Matte Maven Glamourbox is still available as of today. I think this is also a limited edition box so if you are kinda intrigued by this unboxing and first impressions, then you should definitely give it a try!

And oh, just a tip, I found out that previous Glamourbox beauty boxes sometimes make a comeback at the Glamourbox Boutique so watch out for my next post on shopping there and unboxing more beauty finds!
