Hey, hey, hey everyone! I know that this essence cosmetics product isn't new and that it has been around for years, but I've recently gotten this from the Watson's at SM Beauty section. I thought to myself, what better time to do a first impressions try-on review of a foundation for oily skin than now since it is summer in the Philippines!
Temperatures are reaching a blistering 37C and we're only in March! My other foundations seem to be hating me right now so my recent Philippine drugstore makeup shopping is justified (or so I tell myself, haha!). Kidding aside, I was really looking forward to trying out this Essence Stay All Day 16 Hr Long Lasting Makeup because I've heard that their face products are really good. For the try-on video (I did not take pics, sorry), I applied it without primer using only a single layer for most of my face except the undereye area where I've added a bit extra because I did not want to alter results by using a concealer. My findings (naks!) are as follows:
- Consistency: Like a typical foundation, not too runny and not too thick.
- Texture: Not slick at all, feels very light.
- Spreadability: Super easy to spread unto the skin even without primer. Note: I've also tested this with the beauty blender and a brush. Fingers and the BB sponge gave the best application and finish.
- Blendability: Like a dream!
- Scent: Nearly no scent at all. It smells pleasant. Sorta fresh.
- Color: The colors are so weird because they correspond to numbers but the numbers have no order to them...example, number 10 soft beige is darker than the shade I got, which is number 20 soft nude. All undertones are actually yellow despite my shade of choice looking pinkish on swatches online.
- Look: Just like your real skin but a lot better! It is not flat matte. Looks like real skin! Watch my video below to see for yourself!
- How it feels: Feels like you're not wearing anything at all.
- Sensitive skin: No reaction at all, no zits, no break-outs, no redness! I've only tested this thrice as of this writing and only twice when I filmed the video.
- White cast?: No white cast at all for me.
- Coverage: Medium to full. Definitely Buildable
- Lasting power: Lasts very long (at least for me). It started wearing out around 10 hours and by that I mean I can see that the coverage is wearing off but you may need to retouch at the 4 hours and 8 hours mark. I simply blotted with a tissue and later with an oil control film because I do not like piling on more products.
- Oily-skin approved?: YES!!! But here's the thing, it's kind of a hit and miss thing on people. What I mean is, some gals with oily skin hated it and some loved it (like me), I guess your skin's condition is also a factor in how your skin will react to this product.
